Tuck by Stephan Lawhead

The first book I read in my challenge was called “Tuck”, by Stephen Lawhead. If you were to read this book out of context, you would be super confused. This is the third book in a trilogy. This is a trilogy about the classic story of Robin Hood. These books are both exciting and interesting. They are not entirely historically accurate, but contain little bits of interesting history.
The book Tuck was one of my favorites in this series. It was exciting and flowed well. The most important part of the book for me was the characters. Each of these books focuses on a certain character. The first one focused on the main character “The King Raven”, who is Robin Hood. The second book is about his companion, Will Scarlet, this book is called “Scarlet”. The last book is about the Tuck Friar. He was my favorite out of all of these characters. Tuck was sensible and more toned down than the rest of the characters. He brought a certain kind of humor to the story, as well.
The thing that this story does best is showing you things. Despite it’s historical inaccuracy, this book shows you what it was like at that time. There was a sense of conquering going on at that time. Especially in the location that the book was set in. In this book you see the oppression of the poor and of smaller kingdoms. You see corruption in the government, as well as in the church. You see how much a small group of people can accomplish.
As a whole this book was brilliant. The characters were wonderfully written. The King Raven was exciting and full of mischief. You appreciate characters such as Miriam and Tuck. You also get to travel into the wonderful legend of Robin Hood, and see it in a whole new way.

The Typical Beginning Blog

Hello readers, nerd fighters, and possible creepers!

I see you have found my brand new blog. I am starting this blog because I am taking on a challenge. I am challenging myself to read 100 books in one year.  I have already started on my books, and have made a decent amount of progress. What better way to track my progress than through a blog?. This blog will be primarily for book reviews.  I love to read books, but I also love to talk about them. Aaaaaand most of my friends find it obnoxious when I don't shut up about books. I am really excited to start writing out reviews. I'll start with the books I've already read. There will be NO spoilers in this blog. I will also keep you up to date on my progress. It would be awesome if people wanted to join me! It doesn't have to be 100 books. You could pledge to read 50, 25, 10, or any amount you want. Please leave me book suggestions I'm trying to read mostly new books. So suggestions are always helpful. Thank you for reading my blog. Please follow me and leave a nice comment. (:
